Carolyn's Bank - MILITARY Flashcards
What are the levels and the dimensions of the Westcott Corridor?
8nm wide and FL230 and FL240.
What is the Westcott corridor aligned on?
Brize Norton and Marham TACANS
What are the conditions of use of the Westcott corridor?
Only considered to be in the corridor if on route and within the dimensions. Any deviation considered to be “taking 5” and will cancel any CFP.
Can non-SSR aircraft transit the corridor?
Yes, if the Mil tactically points aircraft out and informs DTY when aircraft is clear. All normal radar facilities must be serviceable.
What overrides/suspends the use of the Westcott Corridor?
Royal Flights and GAT aircraft needing to cross in emergency.
What parts of the Westcott corridor affect DTY?
The eastern portion is within S28’s airspace. The western portion is in S25’s and the S27/32 planner/tac will consider the corridor permanently active.
How does tactical activation of the Westcott Corridor take place?
CFP’s sent to S28/S25 Planners, if accepted then aircraft cleared to cross. If not accepted and no response Mil are able to ring to give notification and start a 5 minute countdown, after which the corridor will be active.
How does activation TFN of the Westcott Corridor take place?
Minimum of 5 minutes notice, FL230/FL240 then blocked out for Military use. Blocking strip to be created by Planner and to be accepted by Tac. When no longer required deactivated by phonecall from the Military.
When operating bandboxed to 1 position, you get a request from Mil for a CFP, how many strips do you get sent?
3 if RVSM compliant (S27/32 and S28 and S34)
4 if non RVSM compliant at FL290 or FL300 (S27, S32, S28, S34).
What are the levels of the EAMTA?
EAMTA Low - FL245 - FL285 (min 2,000ft separation from this so min overflying level is FL310)
EAMTA High - FL285 - FL660 (may be capped at a lower level).
