Cariovascular System Flashcards
Purpose of the circulatory system?
To supply cells with what they need! Mostly just gas exchange.
Red blood cells
Drops off CO2 and picks up O2 around the alveoli. To go and distribute the O2 to cells who want it and then pick up CO2. This cycle repeats
Left and Right Atria
Collect blood to then pump into the ventricles!
Left and right ventricles
Pump the blood out!
Arteries
Carry blood away from the heart! Way faster.
Veins
Carry blood back to the heart! Way slower.
Right atrium
Receives blood carrying CO2 from all over the body in through the superior and inferior vena cava!
Tricuspid valve
The left valve that lets blood into the right ventricle!
Right ventricle
Pumps blood out through the pulmonary artery to the lungs
Pulmonary artery
Brings blood out to the lungs!
Pulmonary vein
Blood comes back into the heart from here!
Bicuspid valve
The entry to the left ventricle!
Left ventricle
Blood coming back from the lung and bicuspid valve goes and gets pumped out through the aorta!
