Red blood cells
A
- Red blood cells are biconcave discs which means they are circular discs with the middle squashed inwards.
- This gives them more surface area to pick up oxygen and carry it on haemoglobin to the body’s cells for respiration.

A
- White blood cells are important in fighting disease in the body.
- There are different types, some for making antibodies and some for engulfing microbes.

Plasma
A
- Plasma is the liquid part of the body.
- It is pale yellow in colour and contains dissolved chemicals like carbon dioxide and hormones.
