Cardiovascular System” & “Respiratory System Flashcards
the cardiovascular system is composed of
heart, blood vessels and blood
blood circular route
heart to the arteries to the capillaries to the vains and back to the heart
how oxygen is delivered
the heart and blood vessels dilevers oxygen and nutrients to the body
liquid component of blood
plasma
Plasma
carries hormones, protein, food, gasses, amino asid throughout the body
Heart
4 chambers in the heart, 2 on the left and 2 on the right
Left is systemic and right is pulmonary circulation
2 pumps
left pump is left atrium and left ventricle
Right pump is right ventricle and right atrium
pulmonary circut
The right side of the heart recieves blood that is partially depleted in oxygen and has elevated levels of carbon dioxide. The blood is pushed into the lungs where it is released as carbon dioxide in exchange for oxigen
systemic circute
the heart recieved newly oxiginated blood from the lung andpumps it to various tissues of the body through the systemic circute
cardiac cycle
the period from the begining of one heart beat to the next
the respiratory system
made of of nos, nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea and bronchi
gas exchange
occurs in microsopic air sacks called alviolie
Air enters respiratory system
Through the mounth and nose, it is warmed and passed through the pharynz the throat and then through the larynx the adam apple then through the trachea, the windpipe and then throacic
breathing air per minute
5 to 6 leters of air at rest
20 to 30 learters of air during exercise or when ventilation is increased
