cardiovascular reg Flashcards

1
Q

When measuring arterial oxygen saturation would it matter if you
sampled blood from the arteries supply active vs in active muscle?

A

No if they haven’t reached the active cite yet

Q

How would the heart behave without chemical or neural inputs?

what are the chem and neural regulators

A

the heart would beat at the rhythm of the fastest depolarizing fibers which would be the SA node (100BPM), then the AV node (80BPM), then heart cells on their own (80BPM)

regulators are

chem = epinephrine/norepi (sympathetic), ACh (parasymp)

neural = inhibition of parasympathetic, and then sympathetic n syst

Q

Why does blood pressure increase during exercise? How does the type
of exercise effect this?

A

Muscular contractions squeeze musc, increased BP needed to pump blood around.

resistance training = rapid increase blood press

dynamic cardio = gradual increase BP

Q

Explain how each branch of the autonomic nervous system can increase
HR

A

sympathetic = epi and norepi

Q

Given an example of feed forward and feed back control of cardio vascular
activity

A

Feedback = baroreceptor reflex, baro in aortic arch detect chng BP and adjust

Feedforward = start exercise, signal to increase HR
