What is dilated (congestive) cardiomyopathy?
A
- Most common
- The ventricular wall thickness is normal
- Both ventricles are DILATED (L>R)

- Alcohol
- DM
- Idiopathic
- Ischemic (2/2 CAD)
- Cocaine/meth
- Pregnancy
- Valvular

Symptoms to Dilated CM
A
- Same with reduced EF CHF (40%)
- Fatigue/ weakness
- Arrythmias

what is Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy?
A
- Congestive
- Obstructive
- Thickening of the left ventricle
- Sudden death, especially in young athletes

Treatments to Hypertrophic?
A
- Beta blockers to prevent tachy

What is Restrictive cardiomyopathy?
A
- Rare
- Walls of heart become stiff
- Impaired filling
- Preserved systolic function
- Emboli common (chambers narrowed)
