Cardio - ECG Flashcards
Electrode limb placement
-ve electrode right arm
+ve electrode left leg
Which leads look the same on an ECG trace?
Leads I, II, III, avL, avF
Which lead on an ECG trace is upside down?
avR
What part of the heart is leads II, III, avF looking at?
Inferior wall of the heart
What part of the heart is leads I, avL looking at?
Looks at high lateral wall of the LV
What part of the heart is lead avR looking at?
Looks at RV and basal septum
Unipolar limb leads - what does leads V1-3 tell you about?
It tells you about RV, and you get a small R wave in each lead because RV wall is thinner than LV
V4-6 has much bigger R waves
Which unipolar limb leads have a bigger S wave?
V1-3 has a bigger S wave than V4-6
In the unipolar limb leads what is the R wave to S wave ratio?
R to S ratio:
As you progress from V1 to V6, R waves get BIGGER
As you progress from V1 to V6, S waves get SMALLER
What leads tell you about RV?
V1-3 and avR
Which leads tell you information about the basal septum?
V2, V3, avR
Which leads tell you about the anterior wall of the heart?
V2-4
Which leads tell you about lateral wall of LV?
V5, V6, lead 1, and avL
