Furosemide and bumetanide are loop diuretics that act by inhibiting the Na-K-Cl cotransporter (NKCC) in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle, reducing the absorption of NaCl

hypochloraemic alkalosis
ototoxicity
hypocalcaemia
renal impairment (from dehydration + direct toxic effect)
