Cardiac Monitoring Flashcards
What are the 6 steps ECG rhythm analysis?
- Determine regularity
- Calculate rate
- Examine P wave
- Measure PR interval
- Measure QRS complex
- St segment & T-wave
How Do you determine regularity?
Use the R-R intervals to check if the rhythm are regular if the rhythm are irregular check if there is a pattern to the irregularity
How does the 6-second method calculate the rate
Start adjacent to a QRS complex
Mark out a six secound strip (30 big squares)
Count the number of QRS complexes in the 6 second strip
Multiple x 10
How does the 300 method calculate the rate?
Count the big squares between two adjacent R waves
Divide this number by 300
Bradycardia?
Slow
Less the 50 complexes a minute
Tachycardia
Fast
More than 100 complexes a minute
How do U measure PR interval
Count the little squares between start of the P to the R then times multiply x 0.04
How to measure the QRS?
Count little squares between Q an S then multiply x 0.04
