Cardiac drugs Flashcards
Broad complex tachycardia are treated with three treatment options
1- if there is no pulse then follow the protocol for ventricular fibrillation / ventricular tachycardia cardiac arrest.
2 – If there is a pulse and patient displays adverse signs, expert help and cardioversion is indicated.
3 – If there are no adverse signs, antiarrhythmic therapy is indicated. E.g. Procainamide, amiodarone, lidocaine.
Adrenaline differs from noradrenaline
By having an extra methyl group
Adrenaline commonly used with LA at conc 1:80000?
True
Isomers of adrenaline
D- & L- adrenaline.
D- is 50-100x less potent.
Adenosine components
Adenine & d-ribose.
Blocks re-entry circuits for anti arrhythmic effect.
Depress cardiac contractility via binding to adenosine A1-R. Vasodilatation via binding to low affinity adenosine A2-Rs.
