Description:
Slows electrical conduction through the AV node acting directly on pacemaker cells and vagal nerve.

Can diagnose Wide complex tachycardia

6mg rapid IV/IO followed by 20ml flush
Then 12mg if 6 doesn’t work
Peds
0.1 mg/kg (Max 6mg) Followed by 5-10ml flush
Then 0.2 mg/kg (Max12mg)

Contraindications:
Drug induced tachycardia
2nd TII, 3rd degree blocks
A flutter
WPW

Class:
Class III antidysrhythmic

Description:
Prolongs action period and refractory period. Beta adrenergic receptors and calcium channel blocker activity

Indications:
V fib, pulseless v tach unresponsive to shock and cpr
Unstable v tach
Some stable atrial and ventricular dysrhythmias

Dose:
Pulseless VF, VT
300mg IV/IO push
followed by 150 IV/IO
Life threatening dysrhythmias
Rapid infusion 150mg over 10 min
Slow infusion 360mg over 6 hours
Maintenance infusion 540mg over 18 hours

Decreases inflammation, decreases platelet aggregation.
