What are the indications for aspirin?
Suspected ACS
C-APO
What are the contraindications for aspirin?
Allergy AND/OR ADR to aspirin OR any NSAID
Bleeding OR clotting disorders
Current GI bleeding OR peptic ulcers
Patients less than 18 years of age
What are the precautions for aspirin?
Possible AAA or any other condition that may require surgery
Pregnancy
History of GI bleeding or peptic ulcers
Concurrent anticoagulant therapy
What are the side effects of aspirin?
Epigastric pain/discomfort
N and/or V
Gastritis
GI bleeding
NSAID induced bronchospasm
What is the onset, duration, and half-life of aspirin?
10 mins
1 week
3.2 hrs
What is the adult dose of aspirin?
PO: 300mg
chewed and followed by a small sip of water
What are the indications for clopidogrel?
Patients with a STEMI:
- who have been accepted for pPCI
- who have received tenecteplase
What is the adult dose of clopidogrel?
pPCI- PO: 600mg/8 tablets
Fibrinolysis: PO: 300mg/4 tablets
What is the indication for enoxaparin?
Patients with STEMI who have been approved for fibrinolysis
What is the adult dose of enoxaparin?
IV: loading dose - 30mg
SUBCUT: Maintenance dose -1mg/kg
single dose only, not to exceed 100mg
To be administered 15 mins following IV enoxaparin
What is the indication for tenectaplase?
Patient with STEMI who are accepted for fibrinolysis
What is the adult dose for tenectaplase?
IV:
< 60 yrs = 30mg or 6mL
> 60 - < 70 yrs = 35mg or 7mL
> 70 - < 80 yrs = 40mg or 8mL
> 80 - < 90 yrs = 45mg or 9mL
> 90 yrs = 50mg or 10mL
What is the indication for ticagrelor?
Patients with STEMI who have been accepted for pPCI
What is the adult dose for ticagrelor?
PO: 180mg or 2 tablets
