cardiac arrest Flashcards
how do we recognise cardiac arrest
Patient is
- Unresponsive
- Abnormal breathing
- Absent pulse
What is cardiac arrest
Sudden termination of cardiac function
No circulating oxygen to vital organs!
VO2 =
oxygen consumption/ total volume of oxygen consumed by tissues per minute
DO2 =
oxygen delivery to tissues/ total volume of oxygen delivered to tissues per minute irrespective of distribution of blood flow
what should compression rate be
Compress the chest at a rate of 100–120 min−1with as few interruptions as possible
compression rate to rescue breaths
30 compressions and 2 rescue breaths
4 H’s of cardiac arrest
hypoxia
hypovolaemia
hypothermia
hypokalaemia
hyperkalaemia
4 T’s of cardiac arrest
Tension pneumothorax
Tamponade
Toxins
Thrombus
