Cardiac Flashcards
Causes of sinus tachycardia
Hyperthyroidism, hypokalemia, heart failure, anemia, exercise, stimulants, fever, sympathetic response
Sinus tachycardia pt response
Decrease in cardiac output, vulnerable patients have is key Mccartt disease
Patient response to sinus bradycardia
Decrease in cardiac output, hypotension and decreased organ perfusion
Causes of sinus bradycardia
Vasovagal response, meds like to Jackson or AV nodal blocking agents, like calcium channel blocker and beta blockers, Myocardial infarction, normal in athletes, disease of sinus node, increased intracranial pressure, hypoxemia, hypothermia
Treatment for sinus bradycardia
With symptoms give atropine, It increases heart rateif it doesn’t work transcutaneous pacing, dopamine infusion, or epinephrine infusion. Atropine not used with hypothermia
Sinus tachycardia and bradycardia what kind of rhythm do they have?
These both usually have D regular D or essentially regular
Sinus arrhythmia what happens with breathing?
Heart rate increases with inspiration
Heart rate decreases with exhalation
Because of changes in vagal tone
Is treatment required for sinus arrhythmia?
No
What is it called when a heartbeat starts in the AV or ventricular node?
Escape beats, junctional escape or ventricular escape beats
What can cause sinus exit black?
Calcium channel blocker’s beta blockers and digoxin increased vagal tone
What meds can be used for atrial tachycardia?
Adenosine, beta blockers, calcium channel blocker’s, and amiodorone
What causes wondering atrial pacemaker?
May be normal and young and old but may be caused by COPD
Difference between wandering atrial pacemaker and multifocal atrial tachycardia all
Wandering, slower than 100 beats
Multifocal, faster than 100 beats
