Carbon Capture Flashcards
1
Q
What is Carbon Capture?
A
The process of capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at their source and storing them elsewhere.
2
Q
How does Carbon Capture work?
A
It works by separating the CO2 from other gases, transporting it (usually by pipelines) and then storing it in an underground location.
3
Q
Where can the carbon be stored?
A
It can be stored in the following locations:
Depleted oil & gas reserves.
Unmineable coal beds: the C02 is absorbed into the coal realising the methane in the coal.
Deep Saline formations: rock layers filled with salty water.
