Q

How to test for reducing sugars

A

Benedicts rest

Add 2cm of the good sample to be tested to a test tube. ( if it’s not already in liquid form, first grind up in water )

Add an equal volume of benedicts reagent

Heat the mixture in a gently boiling water bath for 5 mins

If positive solution turns brick red
