Q

What are the four bypass steps of gluceogenesis?

A

The first two convert pyruvate to oxaloacetate then PEP. This occurs in the cytosol.
The third step converts fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to frucotose-6-phosphate.
The fourth step is the final step in gluconeogenesis which dephosphorylates glucose-6-phosphate to glucose.

Q

What are the two part of the PPP?

A

The oxidative and irreversible part converts glucose-6-phosphate to pentose phosphate.
The non oxidative and reversible part converts glucose-6-phosphate and pentose Phosphates to different numbered carbon sugars.
