DEFINITION:
- To supervise, assign, review and coordinate the work of staff responsible for patrol or criminal investigation activities;
- to oversee and participate in all work activities;
- to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility

- Receives direction from the Police Major
- Exercises supervision over assigned police officers, technical and administrative support personnel
Essential Functions: (1/19)
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the activities of the assigned division; oversee the work of subordinate employees responsible for patrol and criminal investigations as assigned; perform a variety of functions related to assigned area services

When assigned to patrol, supervise the patrol operations of the Police Department including preventive patrol, traffic enforcement and school crossings; ensure all arrests are conducted legally and professionally

When assigned to patrol, supervise dispatching activities; supervise the receiving of complaints or reports of emergencies; determine the need for police action and the dispatching of police services; ensure that communication reports and records are properly completed, submitted and maintained

When assigned to criminal investigations, perform surveillance of suspected criminal activity; share and provide information to other law enforcement agencies; assist State and Federal human services agencies; counsel and refer parents to proper social service agencies

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Training Guidelines
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Experience:
Five years increasingly responsible experience in municipal police work/law enforcement including two year of lead responsibility equivalent to that of a Lieutenant in the City of Moore.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field
