What is an alerting service
Service that notifies appropriate organisations with regard to aircraft in need of SAR and assists these organisations as required
Who is provided with alerting service
All a/c provided with ATC
All other AC having filed a flight plan
Any AC being subject to unlawful interference
Overdue action
Continue trying to establish communication while commencing overdue action
Use available means such as flight radar to see if aircraft is transponding
Contact farnborough or Heathrow to see if they are on radar or have an estimate
Contact D&D as last resort
Aircraft close to airfield such as on approach:
Try to gain two way communication
Alert airfield emergency services
Alert local emergency services
Contact AAIB
ACC serve as collecting point for all info
Action when AC need SAR
Set in motion emergency services
Notify watch supervisor
