Immunotherapy:
•trastuzumab (herceptin)
Used to stop the growth of breast tumors that express HER2 neuro receptor.
It’s a monoclonal antibody that binds the the receptor.
Tamoxifen (Nolvadex)
PO med that interferes with estrogen activity.
Estrogen antagonist
Letrozole
aromatose inhibitor
Prevents aromatose from producing estrogen by competitive reversible binding.
Colorectal chemo.
IV fluorouracil:
Pyrimidine analog that belongs to family of drugs called antimetabolites
Blocks synthesis of pyrimidine thymidine a nucleoside required for DNA replication.
Colorectal cancer:
•Folinic acid (leucovorin)
A derivative of tetrahydrofolic acid used with methotrexate to rescue bone marrow as GI mucosal cells.
