Canada also built aircraft for the Royal Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force, and therefore played a crucial role in the Battle of Britain.
Royal Canadian Navy/Merchant navy
Canada’s Royal Canadian Navy and their Merchant Navy played a crucial role in supplying Britain with the men, supplies and weapons they needed to fend off Germany.
British Commonwealth Air Training Plan
Canada was the base for allied air training programs during World War II.
Canada also built aircraft for the Royal Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force, and played a crucial role in the Battle of Britain.
Battle of the Atlantic
During the early stages of World War II, Canada’s main objective was to keep Britain supplied.
However, whenever Canada sent supplies or men to Britain, they would be hunted relentlessly by German U-boats. This struggle was known as the Battle of the Atlantic.
Dieppe Raid
they assigned the task of attacking and securing the town of Dieppe to the Canadian Army. The goal was to sease a major port, gather intel and destroy critical defences. 6000 troops stormed the beaches 80% of them being canadians. from the cliffs the germans could see the lengths of each beach. trapped on the beach the soldiers were caught in cross fire from German machine guns. British soldiers commanded the surviving soldiers to evacuate.
