scots introduced tartan, bagpipes, ceilidh dances, the fiddle, highland games and the sport of curling to canada. all of these were incorporated into canadian culture and became a part of the way that scot-canadians expressed their heritage. this developed canadas cultural indentity.

scots introduced scottish literature from robert burns, robert louis stevenson and sir walter scott to canada. it became common in parts of canada to celebrate burns day. this inspired and developed canadian literature and education.

john a mcdonald, born in glasgow, was the first PM of canada and held the position for 18 years. as PM during canadas formative years he had a very large influence on developing native societies (harming native peoples)

john mcdonald (canadas first PM) worked hard to destroy native peoples lifestyles to suit his own plans for canada. macdonald gave his ‘indian agents’ the power to starve native peoples until they agreed to move away from the land to be used for the canadian pacific railway. this had a devastating impact on life.
