What is an undesignated campground?
Contain defined camping areas and include facilities such as restrooms, showers, and individually numbered campsites.
How do I arrange for key pick-up for a cabin or shelter?
Instructions including pick-up times and locations will be provided on your permit. You must pick up your key no later than 4 pm, late arrivals may not be accommodated.
I have a copy of my receipt, will that allow me to check-in?
No, when purchasing a permit online, you must print out the actual permit
When are any changes to the reservation locked in?
Once you click the checkout button. If you believe you have made a mistake, you will have to cancel, log out, and start all over again.
If I already purchased a permit, but I want to add additional people, can I do that?
Yes, you may substitute or add guests to your permit at any time as long as your number of guests doesn’t exceed the limit for the campsite, cabin, or area. You may not reduce the number of people. It still incurs a $3 charge.
Can I change the dates of my permit?
Yes, you can add additional days to an existing permit up to the maximum allowable consecutive nights stay.
Manage Reservations > Log In > My Reservations > Select Appropriate Date
Additional lodging fees, as well as a change fee, will apply and must be paid for at the time of the change. CHANGES TO DATES OF STAY MUST BE MADE MORE THAN 7 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR DATE OF CHECK-IN. WITHIN 7 DAYS, NO DATE CHANGES ARE ALLOWED.
Can I switch campsites or parks for my permit?
Within the same park, you can switch campsite number with availability permitting.
You cannot switch places. If that is the intent, you must cancel no less than 15 days prior and purchase a new reservation.
What is the fee to make changes?
$3 to change dates of stay, switch campsite number, or add guests.
I live in Hawaii but do not have a local ID, can I still pay the resident rate?
The system requires a valid Hawaii Driver’s License or Hawaii State ID number to be entered to purchase at resident rate.
Can I purchase a permit from the State Parks office?
Yes, but you cannot make changes from home. Any changes done will have to be done at the office.
What is the maximum number of nights for a camp/cabin?
The max is 5 nights in any given park. Certain parks have shorter maximum stays.
Do I request a refund?
click on “My Reservations”, then select the appropriate “Refund/Cancellation” link and follow the instructions.
Will I get the full refund when requesting a refund?
No, there is a $5 non-refundable service fee for all refund requests.
