Long shot
Long shot shows characters full body, it focuses on the character as well as the background.
Medium shot
Shows a character from the waist up. Usually used for dialogue.
Close up
Shows characters facial expressions and background is blurred. It is used to make us feel comfortable or uncomfortable about a character.
Extreme close up
Zooms up on the face and usually shows detail on the face like eyes or the mouth, with no background whatsoever.
Birds eye view
This angle over looks the scene like your looking down on the action.
High angle
Draws attention to the importance of the environment or setting for a scene.
Eye level
Camera is positioned as though a human is observing a scene.
Low angle
Shows the audience power in the character. This shot is filmed looking upwards.
Oblique angle
Filmed by tilting the camera, and suggest a sense of “crookedness” and anxiety.
Establishing shot
Shows outside of a building/landscape used to show scenes of thrilling action.
Point of view
The camera becomes the eyes of a character. The audience sees what that character sees.
