Calculate Performance with TLR Flashcards
CA - What is the definition of a Dry Runway?
A runway is dry when it is neither wet nor contaminated.
FO - What is the definition of a Wet Runway?
> 25% >1/8 in water, snow, slush, ice
CA – What is the definition of a Contaminated Runway?
A runway is considered contaminated when more than 25% of the runway surface area (whether in isolated areas or not),
within the reported length and the width being used, is covered by more than 1/8 in (3 mm) of standing water or its equivalent
in slush, wet snow, dry snow, or any depth of ice or compacted snow.
FO – Are RwyCC values permitted to be used when calculating takeoff performance?
No
CA – How are FICON contaminants applied to takeoff performance if RwyCC values are not permitted to be used for
takeoff?
Perform T/O Performance Assessment using Contaminant Type and Depth*. *Loose contaminants up to and including 1/8 inch
are not considered for T/O performance purposes.
FO - What limits are considered by the dispatcher when calculating a MFPTW?
MFPTW – Maximum flight plan takeoff weight. This is the maximum takeoff weight for which the flight plan is valid when
considering all flight planning limits except MRTW. These limits include the structural MTOW, METW, MLDW + planned fuel
burn off, fuel capacity limited takeoff weight, structural MTXW - taxi fuel, and, if required, takeoff alternate METW. MRTW for
actual conditions can exceed PMRTW, but the final MTOW can never exceed MFPTW. (max structural takeoff weight, max
landing weight, max enroute weight, not max runway takeoff weight)
CA – If the actual OAT exceeds POAT, is it permissible to use the reduced power settings from the takeoff report?
New perf handbook states if temp is >10 degrees colder than planned you need a new report. To perform a flex T/O the OAT
must be less than the MT. (Old info- No, a new TLR must be obtained.)
FO – When are flight deck crews required to make a landing performance assessment and determine a minimum landing
distance?
Current wx conditions & close to landing
CA – Based on the planned landing weight and conditions, what is the minimum landing distance at the destination if the
RCC is reported as 5/3/5?
Use 3 for performance #’s
FO - What RwyCC values and/or braking action reports prohibit a takeoff or landing with a crosswind component greater than 10 knots?
RwyCC 1 or 2
CA - If a discrepancy exists between a braking action PIREP and a reported RwyCC, which report shall be used to determine landing performance?
Most conservative
FO - What is the minimum runway length for landing for all aircraft types?
5400ft
CA – What is the minimum runway length for a CRJ 700 landing at a SAAT level 3 airport with
a field elevation less than 4,000 ft?
5,200 Feet.
FOM 05.63, PG 143
FO - What is the engine failure procedure for the planned departure runway?
Check the release.
CA - On a Simple Special Engine Failure procedure in IMC, when can radar vectors be accepted if available?
1000ft
