The banks needed the government to protect there money abroad in insecure areas. The government needed the banks to fund infrastuture projects that used british industry.

Conquest of Boer republic, it was a very costly campaign to the government. however it was required as it protected the mining industry in which the gentlemanly capitalist had significant financial and commercial stakes in.

Why was Britian vital for Argentina but only important for britian? why was argentina left alone?
