Cab rank rule? (3)
Barrister must accept a brief which is within capacity skill and experience, available to work, and acceptable fee (r 21).
Must set unreasonable fee for the purposes of deterring solicitor from briefing (r 22).
Must not impose any conditions on a solicitor for the purposes of accepting a brief (r 23)
Rules on direct briefs? (2;1)
Barrister is NOT obliged to accept a direct brief from a person is not a solicitor (r 24A).
Must provide the client with written advice about matters in r 24B and have client sign they understand the document.
PD 13/2024 requries prior to appearing on the matter the barrister file a copy of the document to the registry, and provide same to the Bar association.
