C2 Endo + Exo Flashcards
1
Q
Endocytosis
A
Vesicle forms around particle (too big for carrier proteins) from cell membrane and pinches off so particle is inside cell
2
Q
Endocytosis (pinocytosis)
A
Active transport + collects fluids and dissolved small molecules, the membrane folds inwards to collect the particles into the cell
3
Q
Endocytosis (receptor mediated)
A
Active transport + collects proteins, viruses (cannot leave or enter animal cells) and hormones. Vesicles include sacks with sensors to bring particle into the cell
4
Q
Exocytosis
A
Opposite of Endocytosis (Phagocytosis)
Brings large particles out the cell
5
Q
Is Endocytosis and Exocytosis active or passive?
A
Active
