Airspeed for engine failure after takeoff (flaps up or down)
Flaps up: 75 KIAS
Flaps 10-full: 70 KIAS
Max glide at max and minimum weight:
Max 76 KIAS
Min 58 KIAS
Engine Restart procedures:
Airspeed 76 Fuel Selector BOTH Fuel Pump ON Mixture RICH Mags BOTH (or start if prop stopped)
When do you turn off master/battery on a forced landing with engine off?
When the landing is assured
What do you do with the doors before a crash landing?
unlatch
Engine fire during start:
Continue to crank, if starts go to 1800 few mins then shutdown
If fails to start:
- throttle full, mixture ICO, mags START (cont cranking), fuel selector OFF, fuel pump OFF, mags/bat/master OFF
Engine Fire in Flight
Mixture ICO
Fuel selector OFF
Fuel pump OFF
Master OFF
Cabin heat/air OFF (except overhead vents)
Dive to 100 KIAS if possible to extinguish
Electrical Fire in Flight
Standby batt OFF Master OFF Vents CLOSED Fire extinguisher Activate Avionics OFF All other switches except Mags OFF
You may need to restart master, battery, avionics one by one to continue to fly. Check circuit breakers and don’t restart one
Wing Fire
Land/taxi lights OFF
Nav light OFF
Strobe OFF
Pitot heat OFF
Slideslip to keep away flames from fuel tank and cabin
Icing during flight
Pitot heat ON
Turn back or change altitude
Pull cabin heat full out and rotate defroster clockwise to max defroster airflow
Increase engine speed to minimize ice of propeller blades (if excessive vibrations, reduce engine speed to 2200 RPM with prop control then RAPIDLY move it forward
