Archer Performance Flashcards
How many HP does the Archer have? What is the engine?
180 HP at 2700 RPM
Lycoming O-360 4 cylinder direct drive engine
How many gallons does the airplane hold and how many are usable?
50 gallons (25x2), 48 usable
Describe the electrical system
14 volt, 60 amp alternator and 12 volt battery.
The battery is kept behind the baggage compartment
What does the ammeter display?
It does not indicate battery discharge, it displays the amperes the load placed on the alternator.
How should you react if the ammeter shows no output?
This suggests the alternator is not working (no load being placed on the alternator)- so check your 5 amp field breaker and the 60 amp output breaker and reset it open.
If no breaker is open, turn off ALT for 1 second then restart to reset the overvoltage relay. If it is still not showing output then reduce your electrical load and land.
What instruments are ran off of the vacuum system?
The artificial horizon and directional gyro
What is electrically operated?
The turn and back instrument
What are controlled by the pitot static system?
ASI, altimeter, VSI
Where is the alternate static valve?
Mounted to the knee guard below the instrument panel on the left side
Where are the cabin heat controls?
The far right side of instrument panel
What is max baggage capacity?
200 lbs
Where is the external power adaptor?
It is accessible through a receptacle on the right side of the fuselage aft of the wing.
An external battery can be connected to the socket, thus allowing hte operator to crank the engine without having to access the plane battery.
How can you get to the ELT?
It is in the aft portion of fuselage just below the stabilator leading edge and accessible through a plate on the right side of the fuselage
