What is a chemical change
A change that produces one or more new substances, the properties of the new substances are often very different to you the properties of the original substances. Irreversible.
Examples of chemical changes
Cooking eggs/ cakes/ other food
Steel rusting
An acid reacting with an alkali to make a salt and water
What is a physical change
A change that happens when a substance changes state or shape, or breaks into pieces,no new substances are made. Most physical changes can be reversed
What happens to particles during changes?
When a substance changes state, it’s particles stay the same but their arrangement and movement change.
