What are expansion cards?
They are dedicated circuit boards that have a specific purpose and are attached to the motherboard.
What do graphic cards do?
They process graphical data into a displayable form
What do network interface cards do?
They allow computers to connect to networks and allows them to transfer data.
What do sound cards do?
They convert analogue sound waves into digital data (binary) when inputting audio through a microphone.
Also converts digital data to analogue sound waves to output audio through speakers or headphones.
What does a fibre channel card do?
It transfers data between servers across a network. It allows for quick transfer speeds.
What does a storage controller card do?
It allows the computer to manage and use any attached storage devices.
What is a port?
It is the interface between external devices and the computer and it allows data to be transferred.
What are examples of ports?
USB, firewire, SD, Ethernet, SATA, Micro SD
