Liturgical worship
worship following set structure, prayers, actions + responses
Non-liturgical worship
worship with less structured approach, sometimes even spontaneous worship
Altar
place of sacrifice (rituals related to Eucharist/Holy Communion take place)
Communion table
place where communion presented/prepared, linking to the table of communion shared by Jesus and disciples at Last Supper
Denomination
branches of Christian church (ex. Catholic, Anglican, Orthodox, etc. )
Lectern
platform/stand where Bible readings take place, often raised above the level of congregation
Pulpit
raised platform (high above congregations) from which priest/vicar/bishop/minister/preacher deliever sermon
Cross
image/carving/statue of cross used to execute Jesus
Crucifix
cross with figure/image of crucified Jesus
Reason of lecterns
show significance of scripture and reading taking place (to be focused on reading)
Font
(baptismal font) vessel used for water of baptism, usually on raised stand, water poured over head
Baptistery
part of church;separate room/connected building specifically for baptism to take place
Eucharist (성찬식)
“Thanksgiving” (Holy Communion/Lord’s Supper)
Imporance of Eucharist
rememberance of Last Supper with disciples in the lead up to crucifixion
Communion
sharing in a meal uniting people with each other within Christ
