• Heat: Irrigate with cold water for 30 mins, cover with cling film
• Chemical: Brush off powder and irrigate with water
• Superficial Epidermal: Symptomatic
• Superficial Dermal: clean, dress and review in 24 hours

When should burns be referred

Answer 2

Superficial dermal covering more than 3% or 2% in adults and children OR in face hands feet or genitalia or circumferential burns

All deep dermal and full thickness burns

Management of Severe Burns

• IV Fluid: Children > 10% and Adults >15%
• Urinary Catheter
• Transfer Sensitive location burns or burns >5 and >10 to burns unit
