Airway- check for inhalational/smoke injury
If on face= corneal injury
Electrical burn:- cause rhabdomyolysis

Degree of burn

First degree- erythema, pain, NO blisters
Second degree- red, mottled,blisters
Third degree- dark + leathery OR white, dry

Sunburn

Hot liquids

Fire
Electricity
Lighting
Prolonged exposure to hot liquid/object
Signs of severe burn?
Oedema surrounding
Singed hair etc
Rule of nines
Both arms- nine%
Thorax and abdo- eighteen%
Each leg- nine%
Head- nine%
Pathophysiology
At centre- coagulative necrosis
Stasis
Hyperemia
Management [don’t need to know]
Hydration Avoid hypothermia Nutrition Removing constricting clothing ATLS protocol
