Deliberate method of training where periods of high-grade stimuli are followed by low-grade stimuli
Define Overtraining
A short cycle of training where athletes are exposed to excessive training loads at or near their maximal capacity
Define Burnout
physical, emotional and social withdrawal from a formerly enjoyable activity
What is burnout characterized by? (3)

Describe and differentiate the differences between periodized training, overtraining and burnout
– Periodized training is a deliberate method of training where periods of high-grade stimuli are followed by low-grade stimuli. All periodized training incorporates overtraining, but not all overtraining is periodized
– Burnout is the physical, emotional and social withdrawal from a formerly enjoyable activity
