What were the July days?
20,000 Sailors of Kronstadt organised their own demonstration in the streets of Petrograd due to their anger regarding fuel crisis, loss of 100,000 jobs and price rises, using Bolshevik slogans in which Lenin could neither condemn or support as he did not want to risk a premature revolution. The Bolsheviks tried to turn protests into peaceful procession until shots were fired.

Lenin argued “History will not forgive us if we do not assume power now” but Z and K argued it was the wrong time for a coup due to Russia’s economic state and L resignation could not even move them. This caused Lenin to sneak back into Russia in disguise on October 10th
Why did Lenin want an early revolution?
He knew the Bolsheviks would not do as well as the SR is constituent assembly elections
How did Trotsky organise the revolution?
He sent out Bolshevik speakers to whip up support
“Military Revolution Committee” set up and Trotsky used fears about Kerensky’s orders as a pretext to get MRC ready for “defensive action” but he was actually getting them ready to seize power.
