A knowledge work thinking process is establish with intention, that nothing will be kept in mind to free up mental capacities.
For good action management for large or small items ask these questions:
(1) Why do we do this
(2) How does it look like when finished
(3) What is the next action step
How does the management process for getting things done look like?
A 5 stage management process (with under steps) is presented:
(1) collecting things needing attention
- truly capture everything: Alles was in Zukunft anders sein soll und wofür man Commitment abgegeben hat.
- big or little
- professional or private
- get all out of your mind
- minimise collection buckets: As many as necessary, as few as possible
- empty buckets regularly
(2) Process: What to do with tings

- Is it actionable
- No:
- Trash
- No action now but may be later
- Helpful information (reference)
- Yes:
- Do it if less than 2 min.
- Delegate if more than 2 min and I am not the right one to do it
- Defer if more than 2 min., but I am the right one to do it

(4) Review results: 1x/week ?
(5) Make choices
What are the steps of a natural planning process ?
Additionally a 5 phase natural planning process is presented:
(1) Purpose: Why are we doing this
- Clear and specific
(2) Principles:
- Answer “I give others complete free range as long as they do…(What)”
- What behaviour might undermine the goal and what to do about it
(3) Vision the outcome:
- How does success look like
- Clarify the outcome:
- View project from beyond the completion day
- envision wild success
- capture features, aspects,…
- Would it be great if…
(4) Brainstorming: How
(5) Organise:
- identify components, sequences and priorities
- arrange them
- What is the next actionstep.
