Bubbles and Desert Beverages Flashcards
Dolci Colline
Prosecco (sparkling) from Veneto, Italy
Great minerality and ripe citrus with larger fizz ante style bubbles. Not much yeast and on the sweeter side
Veuve Clicquot “Yellow Label”
Champagne from Champagne, France
Rich acid with fruit undertones. Lost of yeast and being that it is a pinot noir dominate wine it is a little more fruit foward than bone dry.
Grahams “6 Grapes”
Ruby Port from Portugal
Six Grapes has a seductive, rich aroma of ripe plums, cherries and dark chocolate notes. On the palate it’s complex, with an excellent structure and a long, lingering finish. Six Grapes is one of Graham’s original Port blends–it is a very full-bodied, luscious wine drawn from the same vineyards as Graham’s Vintage Ports. Blended from two or three years’ harvests, the wine is an average of five to six years old when it is lightly filtered and bottled.
Grahams 20 year
Tawny Port from Portugal
A complex and full-bore tawny, with deep, intense flavors of orange cream, glazed apricot, baked peach and roasted pineapple that are balanced by concentrated chocolate and toffee notes. The bright finish is filled with spice and supported by fresh acidity
Pride Mountain “Mistelle de Viognier”
Mix of brandy and viogner from Sonoma County
The winery blends viognier juice and white brandy to create a supple, mildly sweet dessert wine, perfect with hard cheeses like Manchego. Best served cold!
Tokaj Classic “Aszu 6 Puttonyons”
Tokaj Blend from Hungary
This is the world-famous sweet, topaz-colored wine known throughout the English-speaking world as Tokay. Aszu is named based on the puttony level. 1 being the lowest and 6 being the highest. Puttony represents the amount of sugar or sweetness the Aszu contains.
A beautiful golden wine with plenty of dried fruits, apricot jam, vanilla and medlar.
Extremely rich nose. Spicy vanilla and apricot. Very fine, elegant acidity provides
perfect balance to the high sugar. An almost eternal finish.
