What does soft security consist of?
Rules and regulations that are in place to protect the particular site.
What two components does physical security have?
hard security and soft security.
What does hard security consists of?
Technology such as locks, lights, alarms, fences, and other barriers and vaults.
What is risk?
Threat + Vulnerability.
What is the point of a threat assessment?
identifies risk and determines probability and criticality.
What types of assets are typically protected?
People, property, information, and image.
What are examples of Loss events?
bomb threats, floods, fires, or criminal acts.
What is the first line of defense for a property?
The property line that could consist of natural barriers such as a river or cliff or man-made barriers such as a fence.
What is the second line of defense for a property?
The exterior of a building or structure
What is the third line of defense for a property?
The interior controls that are in place to protect a particular room or object.
Soft security components consist of?
rules and procedures.
What do countermeasures in physical security consist of?
barriers, lights, locks, alarms, video, fencing, and gates.
What objectives need to be kept in mind considering a barrier for your countermeasure?
define what our property boundaries are.
deter entry for those who are not authorized, and allow entry for those who are.
delay entry momentarily until proper checks are made.
channel and direct the flow of personnel and vehicle traffic in a safe and efficient manner.
deploy and utilize our security resources in such a way that we are both effective and efficient
What effect does a good security lighting system have on a security program?
First, it enhances security by creating a psychological deterrent.
Second, light can actually be a physical deterrent as well.
What four factors do we consider when we look at lighting from a security perspective?
Size, Contrast, Brightness, Time
