Where is the interpeduncular fossa
Anterior: optic chiasm and tract
Posterior: cerebral peduncles
Inside, is where CN 3 exits.
What is the subarachnoid cistern?
Spaces that are formed by openings in the subarachnoid space.
They are anatomic spaces between pia and arachnoid filled with CSF.
Where is the quadrigminal cistern?
Between splenium of corpus callosum and the superior surface of the cerebellum.
Contains: pineal gland and CN 4 (trochlear)
What is located in the interpeduncular cistern?
- CN 3 (oculomotor)
- Optic chiasm
- Bifurcation of the basilar A
- P1
- Posterior communicating A
What is the pontine cistern?
Anterior to pons and contains
- Basilar A
- Origin of AICA
- Superior cerebellar A.
- CN 6 (abducens)
Cerebellopontine angle cistern
Lateral angle in between cerebellum and pon
Contains: CN 5 (trigeminal), 7, 8 and AICA
Cisterna magna
between the cerebellum and the dorsal medulla
Contains: vertebral A, PICA, CN 9, 10, 11, 12
What is in the premedullary cistern?
Ponotomedullar junction -> foramen magum
CN 12 and anterior spinal A.
