what causes bronchitis?
A
it is caused by prolonged exposure to tar which coats cillia and paralyses them.

how does bronchitis affect one’s health
A
excessive mucus is secreted by goblet cells and mucus. trapped particles stay in respiratory tract. bacteria grow and multiply. as a result, persistent coughing to clear air passages occur to breathe. airways become inflamed

what causes emphysema
A
bronchitis may cause emphysema, but it generally occurs when walls between alveoli break down due to persistent and violent coughing.

how does emphysema affect one’s health
A
it results in decreased total surface area for gaseous exchange. rate of diffusion of oxygen into blood is slower. breathing becomes difficult
