( normal ) Located @ Trachea and larynx Explains where bronchus is Sound is hollow Exp > Ins
Broncho Vesicular (location, explain, & sound heard)
( normal )
Located at 1st and 2nd ICS (ant. and post.)
Explains where junc of bronchus AND vesicular sacs
Sound is moderate blowing
Exp = Ins
Vesicular (location, explain, & sound heard)
( normal ) Located at periph base of lung Explains where the vesicular sacs are Low soft whisper Inspir > Expir
Crackles/Rale (sound, suggests, treatment)
( Abnormal, Adventitious ) - Discontinuous < 0.2s
Sounds of non-musical popping/bubbling
Suggests fluid in the lungs
Heard at INSP @ the post. base of the lung
Cant be cleared with cough
Treat with diuretic (Furosemide)
Wheeze - High pitch (sound, suggests, treatment)
( Abnormal, Adventitious ) - Continuous > 0.2s
Sounds squeaky or musical on expir
Hear on EXPIR
Suggest asthma/COPD/obstructive
Treat with bronchodialators or corticosteroids
Wheeze - Low Pitch - Rhonchi (sound, suggests, treatment)
( Abnormal, Adventitious ) - Continuous > 0.2s
Whistle or whine on EXPIR
Air passing around secretions
Treated and cleared by coughing
Stridor (sound, suggests, treatment)
( Abnormal, Adventitious ) - Disontinuous < 0.2s
Sound of high pitch harsh whistling/gasp Inspir& expir
Suggest obstruction
Treat with intubation **EMERGENCY***
Friction Rub
Heard on inspir & expir
Pleura rubbing togethor due to inflammation
Low pitch harsh grating sound
