Advantages of breast feeding

- Bonding
- Passive immunity for the baby due to antibodies in the milk from Mum straight to infant
- Weight loss for Mum
- Free and easily accessible

Disadvantages of breast feeding
A
- Transmission of blood borne viruses and drugs
- Pain and complications e.g. mastitis and engorgement
- Tiring and hard to do - can affect self esteem and make mother feel defeated if baby doesn’t latch
