Where is the mammary gland located?
in the breast near the nipple
How is the duct system found in non lactating women?
the duct system ends blindly (without glands). theys form lactiferous ducts that form lactiferous sinuses under the areola. the sinuses empty into the surface of the nipple.
What are coopers ligament?
Suspensory ligaments of the breast. they give breast its integrity
How are the mammary glands and coopers ligament found in non lactating women?
smaller in size and consist of blind ended ducts
What is the axillary tail of the breast?
small tail from the breast that sticks put into the axilla
What is the secretory acini?
found in lactating breast when the ducts expand at there distal end displacing adipose tissue and some disruption of connective tissue
What is the arterial supply of the breast?
lateral branches of the intercostal arteries
anterior mammary branches of internal thoracic(internal mammary artery)
some from axillary artery (found above it)
What is the venous supply in breast?
the reverse of the artery supply
Describe male breast?
non lactating duct tissue
never become functional in normal circumstances
What is gynecomastia?
deposits of fat deep mammary tissue in males
What are Supranuiary nipples?
an extra nipples developing along the milk lines in humans
