What is a brand?
A unique feature that identifies a company’s product/service which differentiates it from its competitors.
What are the advantages of having a strong brand?
- Adds value to a product or service
- Customer loyalty leading to repeat sales and word of mouth recommendation
- Can use premium pricing
- Retailers want to stock top selling brands
- Reduce price elasticity of demand
What are three ways to build brand identity?
USP, advertising, sponsorship
What is branding?
Creating a certain image so that the product or service is easily memorable and easily recognisable in the customers mind.
What is viral marketing?
A strategy that focuses on spreading info and opinions about a product/service from person to person through unconventional means such as email & text messages
What is emotional marketing?
A strategy that focuses on marketing communication and refers to the practice or gilding brands that appeal directly to a customers emotional state and needs
What are the three social trends?
Environmental concerns, ethical considerations, economic
What is the design mix?
The combination of elements that make up a products design.
What are the three parts of the design mix?
Function, costs, aesthetics
