Brainstem Lesion Flashcards
Motor pathway (Corticospinal tract) deficit
Contralateral weakness
deficit in the medial lemniscus
Contralateral proprioception or vibration loss
Medial longitudinal fasciculus
Ipsilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia
Motor nucleus and nerve
Ipsilateral CN function loss
Where does the Corticospinal tract decussate
Level of lower medulla
Deficit in the spinocerebellar pathway
Ipsilateral ataxia
Spinothalamic pathway
Contralateral pain or temperature sensory loss
Deficit sensory nucleus of CN 5
Ipsilateral pain or temperature loss in face
deficit sympathetic pathway
Ipsilateral horner’s syndrome
Spinocerebellar pathway is concerned with
Unconscious proprioception
If px has left side ipsilateral opthalmoplegia where is the lesion and location
Left oculomotor motor and located at the left midbrain
Px has medial deviation of the eyeball what nerve is affected
Abducens nerve which is innervated by lateral rectus
Deficit in CN5
Ipsilateral facial sensory loss
