Q

Long thoracic nerve

A

Comes off a root. Travels anterior to the anterior scalene, between the clavicle and rib 1. Innervates the serratus anterior.

Q

Suprascapular nerve

A

Comes off a trunk, travels between the posterior scalene and the upper trapezius. Travels to the scapula and innervated supra and infra spinatus

16
Q

Dorsal scapular nerve

A

Originates from C5, passes posterior to the middle scalene, then travels along the border of the scapula. Innervates the levator scapula and the rhomboids

17
Q

Nerve to subclavius

A

Originates from a superior trunk. Passes antero-inferior over subclavian artery and vein. Innervates the subclavius

18
Q

Accessory nerve (CN XI)

A

Not a part of the brachial plexus. Descends from the neck to the SCM and trapezius.

19
Q

Branches of the brachial plexus

A

Axillary, musculocutaneous, raidal, median, ulnar.

20
Q

Path of the axillary nerve

A

Comes off of a cord, then travels through the axilla. Divides into anterior and posterior branches and creates a cuff around the deltoid.

21
Q

Muscles innervated by the axillary nerve

A

Deltoid and teres major.

22
Q

Path of the musculocutaneous nerve

A

Comes off of a cord, then travels deep to the pec minor. Pierces the coracobrachialis and travels down the anterior humerus.

23
Q

Muscles innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve

A

Biceps brachii, brachialis, coracobrachialis

24
Q

Path of the radial nerve

A

Comes off of a cord. Travels deep to pec minor and through the axilla then down the posterior humerus between the medial and lateral heads of triceps brachii.

25
Q

Muscles innervated by radial nerve

A

Triceps, anconeus, brachioradialis, most wrist extensors, abductor pollicis, supinator

26
Q

Path of the median nerve

A

Comes off of a cord, then travels deep to the pec minor, through the axilla, pierces pronator teres and then through the carpal tunnel.

27
Q

Muscles innervated by the median nerve

A

Pronator teres, palmaris longus, pronator quadratus, muscles of the thenar eminence, some wrist flexors

28
Q

Path of the ulnar nerve

A

Comes off of a cord, travels deep to the pec minor, through the axilla.

29
Q

Muscles innervated by the ulnar nerve

A

Some wrist flexors, muscles of the hand except for the thenar eminence.

30
Q

Borders of the deltopectoral triangle

A

Clavicle (superior), pectoralis major (medial), anterior deltoid (lateral)

31
Q

Contents of the deltopectoral triangle

A

Cords of the brachial plexus, axillary artery and vein

32
Q

Borders of the cubital fossa

A

Biceps insertion (superior lateral), bicipital aponeurosis (superior medial), pronator teres (inferior medial), brachioradialis (inferior lateral)

33
Q

Contents of the cubital foss

A

Brachial artery and vein, median nerve

34
Q

Floor of the carpal tunnel

A

The 4 intermediate carpal bones (lunate, triquetrum, trapezoid, capitate)

35
Q

Cieling of the carpal tunnel

A

Flexor retinaculum

36
Q

Contents of the carpal tunnel

A

Tendons of FDS, FDP, FCR, FPL and the median nerve

37
Q

Nerves of the brachial plexus which are mixed

A

Musculocutaneous, axillary , median, radial, ulnar
