A

variety of head movements can trigger vertigo
common trigger is turning over in bed

symptoms 20-60s for each attack, epidosed occur over several weeks

no hearing loss or tinnitus

pathophysiology

A

calcium carbonate crystals (otoconia) become displaced into semicircular canals

they disrupt normal flow of endolymph ocnfusing the vestibular system

  • hold patients head still, remaining45º
  • watch eyes for 30-60s for nystagmus
