In assessing a patient with BPH, what tests should be done, and what should be considered?
- UA, IPSS, and PVR SHOULD be done
- consider assessment if prostate size, consider uroflow, consider VUDS
What are indications for BPH surgery?
- AKI from hydro
- refractory retention to mess
- recurrent UTI
- bladder stones
- gross hematuria from BPH
To whom can you offer Urolift?
Men with prostate is less than 80 g and without a middle lobe
What are the only things that you really have to do when assessing somebody for BPH surgery? Meaning, what are the specific aspects of the history and work up?
IPSS, UA, PVR, and assessment of prostate size (either TRUS or cross sectional imaging)
What should you do for an OAB pt who is having difficulty tolerating anticholinergics 2/2 constipation and dry mouth?
Try to manage SEs before giving up or decrease dose or change medication.
What is the only test you need in the diagnosis of OAB?
UA. All other tests only recommended in cases where the diagnosis is unclear.
